Klaus Wehner's MPhil/PhD Art research project

On posing: notes on imageness

My project is a response to investigations of the changing perception of the role and function of the institution of the museum. Implicit in this subject matter is a critical look at historiography, the history of history writing, which acknowledges that history always contains ‘philosophy of history’ as opposed to the historian -or the museum- being a detached and self-transparent observer of facts of the past. I am also specifically interested in the relationship between the museum and religion and within this, in the visibility of death in the museum.
